Wonderful article Fr. Dave. Thank you for reminding us that God has given us the freedom to seek what is good and taught us how to choose what is good.
Quote from your article: “… You can freely choose to love …no matter what others may do, and choose to never let another’s lack of faith, hope, and love affect your faith, hope and love. You may not change the world, but you can certainly have a positive impact in your personal world of family and friends….”
I’m so thankful God has given me the resources I need in order to make choices, I.e., The Mass, Eucharist, Scripture, prayer, etc. I’m grateful to God and all who serve him for helping me dive deeper into my faith. It gives me the desire to strive to live a life of faith, hope, and love. There’s even help available when I fail—Confession. What a blessing to be given a chance for a fresh start and another opportunity to choose love.

As always…an Excellent explanation of a very complex and difficult concept which has been grappled with by probably all of us at some time in our lives!!
I’ve passed it on to a friend who has been struggling with this question for a very long time in her life.

Thank you, Father Dave for your article. It really made me sit and ponder what you said about love and freedom. It makes so much sense! What a beautiful gift God gave us to be able to make our own choices. It seems to me the only way to build a relationship with God is to go to Him by choice and love. What praise and honor we show Him when we trust Him and depend on His graces to make our choices.
You are right; there is too much emphasis in this world on the ugly and bad things happening and we know there are so many compassionate and loving people in this world that never get talked about. But, yes, these are the people who make a society a peaceful and loving one! These are the people who have made a choice to have God in their hearts. Great article!
