The University Series is a large multi-parish adult education program every year during the Season of Lent that I started in 2002 when I was the Pastor of St. Paschal Baylon Parish in Thousand Oaks.
It is now in two geographical locations with 15 parishes in the Ventura County area and 3 parishes in the Whittier-La Mirada area.
THEUNIVERSITYSERIES.ORG
The website shows all the new classes and speakers each year beginning around mid-January. There is tuition for each class, and you can always bring a friend for free. The website allows for pre-registration of classes and discounted tuition for both Ventura and Whittier-La Mirada classes.
Classes begin the Thursday after Ash Wednesday and end the Friday before Palm Sunday. Sessions are Monday through Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8:30pm and Fridays from Noon to 1pm.
Each year, around 15,000 people attend University Series sessions. Many have found that the Season of Lent, just before Easter, is a perfect time to gain valuable insights, deep wisdom, and practical help for daily living.
