Gospel Reflections for February 2 2020
I finally know!
Do you have a question that you have always wanted an answer and just have never found it?
Maybe you want to know why there is evil in the world, or why some get sick and others get healed. Maybe you just want lasting happiness for yourself and your family. Maybe you just want to know who will the Super Bowl!
In today’s Gospel, Simeon was an old man who had a deep desire to know when the long awaited Savior of the world would arrive who would provide all these answers. He wanted to know before he died.
The Gospel presents the dramatic story of Mary and Joseph bringing the child Jesus to the Temple area. Simeon was there and was at last able to see and even hold Him in his arms. His prayer of thanksgiving is a deeply moving moment of a lifelong quest …finally answered!
There is no longer any need for your own lifelong questions to remain unanswered!
It is for that purpose that I developed the University Series in 2002, among 14 parishes in California, in Ventura County, and in our own 4 parishes of St Bruno and St. Mary in Whittier, Beatitudes in La Mirada, and St. Dominic Savio in Bellflower, in Los Angeles County.
Our only purpose is to make this same person of Jesus and His wisdom and grace available to every person. The wisdom, power, and grace of Jesus are your answers to your every question.
You can see the whole program in our catalogs at the Church doors, the large Calendar poster there, and especially the website at theuniversityseries.org. You can bring a spouse or friend for free for only $7 at the door or only $5 by pre-registering at the website.
All of the classes are designed to connect faith with real life, and connect the wisdom of Jesus with marriage and family issues, modern moral issues, faith and science, understanding scripture better, and deepening your personal spiritual growth.
Simeon’s heart was open to receive Our Lord. That is the key idea. Let you heart be open as well.
Decide now to make this Lent your time to get all your questions finally answered!
If you live in these areas, look over the Catalog, Calendar, or Website and see which sessions address the issues you have often wondered about.
Wherever you live, seek out the wisdom of Our Lord during this season of Lent. Now is the time for you to echo the words of Simeon, “Now Lord, I have seen your salvation!”
God Bless!

Just came home from a Funeral or Celebration of Life for
Gina Diaz Robles at St. Elizabeth’s. A Wonder Woman with talent and energy galore. She had a knack for getting people together
Directing Fiestas or any other event requiring worker Bees.
She joined Hispanics with long time Member of the Parish in
Doing the impossible.
Church was overflowing in the bi-lingual ceremony.and you could feel the love she initiated coming to fruition.
We are so fortunate to enjoy such camaraderie.
Thanks for all you are and continue to be.

I am so glad to hear that she had an inspiring funeral mass at St. Elizabeth’s. I remember my years there well. I hope her life continues to inspire people for years to come.
