Gospel for April 10 2022 – Luke 23:1-49

Gospel Reflections for April 10 2022

Follow me!

On this Palm Sunday when you come to Mass you will receive palms to wave just as the people in the Gospel waved palms and celebrated the arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem.

This account of His very last days always recalls the very first days of His ministry, when He walked along the shore of the Sea of Galilee and called His first disciples together.

He began His invitation with two simple words, and they remain today the entire summary of what it means to be Catholic. These two words encompass everything you need to know about your faith and how to live it well.

Jesus looks at each person directly in the eye and simply says, “Follow me.” What else do you need to know? That is the whole summary of our faith. In every moment of your life, at home, work, or school, you must seek only to follow the example and teachings of Our Lord.

As the crowd physically followed Jesus into Jerusalem that first Palm Sunday, decide to literally follow Him all this week as well, by joining with Our Lord in our Holy Week services.

Follow Him on Holy Thursday and celebrate the Last Supper He shared with His disciples. He knew you would need His presence within you after He was gone so He left His Eucharistic presence to encourage and guide you with His love for you each and every week.

Follow Him on Good Friday at Stations of the Cross and the Passion Liturgy. You can see just how much suffering He would endure out of love for you. You can ponder His amazing words from the Cross even as He is being crucified as He asks God to “Forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Finally, and most important of all, follow Him on Easter Sunday, when you can celebrate His resurrection …and the total victory of the way of Christ over death and all suffering when He rose from the dead.

No other person in history has ever risen from the dead so the life of Our Lord is worth taking seriously. That is best done by actually walking in His footsteps. You can do so in the services this Holy Week.

His way always works for true and lasting happiness for those who always follow Him!

God Bless!

Fr. Dave

Just read an article in today’s LA times entitled “Twists of Faith during Covid.”All the people highlighted in the article seemed to fall away from their traditional faith and follow “their truth” instead of the way,!the truth and the life of Jesus Christ. Thank you for guiding us to follow the truth no matter how difficult that may be.
May you have a blessed Holy Week and Easter Fr. Dave..

I saw that article but did not bother to read it since I guessed what it would say. Looks like I was right! How sad that people follow themselves and not the Lord.

Thank you Fr Dave for the reminder to keep our focus on the great love of Jesus
    for us!
With all that’s going on it is easy to get caught up on other things and forget
about what Jesus did for us
When we take the time He will be there!

It is amazing that the WHOLE WORLD is on the side of Ukraine and supporting them. I think all this support is working because the tide is turning in their favor. Walking in the footsteps of Our Lord is our goal this week for sure.

This is a favorite time of the Liturgical year for me and my family. The Readings are magnificent and Masses full of Mystery and Wonder. The Music becomes Majestic and
Reflection more concentrated on the importance and Beauty of our Catholic Faith.
All Glory Laud And Honor as we process singing into our wonderful places of Worship.

Thanks for your continued reminders while living your vocation of Priesthood
