Connecting Faith with Real Life

Holy Land Tour Father Dave Heney

Welcome to My New Online Home – DaveHeney.com!

June 10, 2014 By Father Dave 10 Comments

Fr. Dave Heney - DaveHeney.comHello!  I’m Father Dave Heney and welcome to my site.

I was ordained a parish priest for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in 1978 and in 1991 I received a Masters degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from the University of Southern California.

In June 2014 I finished my 12 year term as the pastor of my home parish at St. Paschal Baylon Church in Thousand Oaks, CA.

I am currently on a one year sabbatical by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for the purpose of writing two practical “How-To” manuals for priests and pastors; one on developing large adult education programs in parishes and the other on parish leadership.

I have also written two other books:  “Motivating Your Parish to Change” a book on spiritual leadership and “Don’t Tell Me What to Do!” a concise Catholic view of modern moral issues.

In 2002, I founded “The University Series” a multi-parish adult education program during the Season of Lent that has grown to over 10,000 attendees.

Every June I host an exciting 12-day pilgrimage to the Holy Land where the group visits and investigates the places most people only read about in the scriptures.

Thank you for visiting my site and I invite you to sign up for my newsletter. One of the main reason to sign up for the newsletter is so that I can keep in contact with you.  It is very important to me to hear from you and get your thoughts and feedback on how faith impacts your life. God Bless!

Fr. Dave

So happy I finally found your website, and I want to go with your group next year to the Holy Land. I didn’t see an update to your tour page since this years trip has been completed. Can you direct me where to sign up for 2015. I have been copying your articles and passing them out to whom ever needs them at the time (all of them). I thank you for them and ask you to continue to update us on the current Israeli Hamas conflict as well as other events such as Russia vs Nato and the US, etc.
    Thank you!!!

Thanks for your comments. I hope to have an update on this year’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land soon on this website. We are still waiting for the airlines to give us the group airfares for next year.

I hope to have a section on the Holy Land trip soon on this webpage. We do not have the group airfare tickets yet, but should have them by the end of the month. Stay tuned!

    Hi Father Dave,

Tom and I also want to be part of the 2015 Holy Land Trip. We have a few questions, which may have to be addressed by George International:

When can we start putting down a deposit for Father Dave’s 2015 trip?
Are the dates for the 2015 trip Tuesday, June 16, to Sunday, June 28?
    Which airline do we fly?
Are their options for business class seating on the flights and how much more does it cost for the Round Trip? One-Way?
If so, could we fly business class just one-way and make our own arragements coming or going (TBD, but likely we would go to Israel with the tour and go our own way at the end of the tour…)
If we make our own flight arrangements what is the savings off the tour price for the Round Trip? One-Way?

I saw your note on this website, that you are waiting for pricing from the tour company. Can you please pass the other questions we have, on to them, to see what our options are??? We have airline points and, if we can use them for arranging our own flights, than we need to do this in the next few months.

    Thanks, Linda Travis

Hello! All of your questions can be answered by George’s International. I think it would be better to get the information directly from them since they are the travel and airline professionals. However, I can tell you that almost every year we have a number of people who make their own air travel plans, often because they are doing other trips either before or after our pilgrimage. People also choose to fly business class as well. I actually travel there a day early and come home a day after the group. I use the extra time to preview other possible archaeological sites, and visit families I know over there. I will be calling the travel agency myself this morning to get an update on our trip plans. Shalom! Fr. Dave

Hi Father Dave, Just wanted to thank you for your many years at St. Paschal’s and for the University Series. BUT A BIG THANK YOU for the mass and homily on Fr. Joe on March 25, 2015. Your homily was great and once more you put the entire community at ease.
